With 2 points separating the top five sides going into this weekend, it’s going to be another fascinating weekend in the 2.Bundesliga. We start this week by taking a look at the matches of each of the top 5:
Table toppers Fortuna Dusseldorf will face a tough task on Sunday, as they travel to Munich to face 1860. The hosts are unbeaten in 6, with Dusseldorf now without a win in their last 4.
Also on Sunday, Greuther Furth have a seemingly easier away trip to Ingolstadt ton contend with. The home side though are unbeaten in 4, and have looked better in recent weeks after a dreadful start to the season.
Third placed Eintracht Frankfurt have a huge game against rivals FSV Frankfurt on Saturday. FSV sit just outside the relegation places and are in desperate need of points.
And Friday evening sees St Pauli travel to Duisburg, and elsewhere Paderborn host Dynamo Dresden. Duisburg only have 5 wins all season and haven’t won in their last 3, in what has been a disastrous season so far – with many predicting them of having a chance of promotion at the start of the season. 4 of their 5 wins have come at home though which will give them some hope going into the game with St Pauli.
Paderborn’s huge unbeaten run came to an end last week with a 5-1 thrashing at Fürth. Dresden sit 10th in the league and have had a decent season so far, but their away form is poor with only 2 wins in 10.
So that’s the preview of those in and around the promotion places. Here’s a list of the other fixtures:
Friday: Karlsruhe v Energie Cottbus
Saturday: Bochum v Union Berlin
Sunday: Aachen v Hansa Rostock
Monday: Aue v Eintracht Braunschweig
