The expected departure of Carlos Zambrano was confirmed on Friday, with the defender finalising his move to Eintracht Frankfurt. The club didn’t announce the fee received for Zambrano, however it is reported by local paper ‘MoPo’ that the fee was €1.2m. However, the club will only receive 30% of this fee (€360,000, if true) for Zambrano, as 70% of his rights are owned by a Swiss agency.
The club were adamant that they must find a replacement for Zambrano before they allowed him to leave, and they announced the loan signing of Christopher Avevor from Hannover 96 shortly before they confirmed the sale of Zambrano. 20 year old Avevor has joined on loan for the rest of the season. Avevor is quoted in Bild as saying “I look forward to playing for a very special club, the most popular in Hamburg”.
