St. Pauli today revealed Christopher Nöthe as their third signing for the new signing – after confirming the transfers of Marc Rzatkowski (Bochum) and Marcel Halstenberg (Borussia Dortmund). Nöthe joins on a three year deal from Greuther Fürth, who will join St. Pauli in the second division next season having been relegated from the Bundesliga. Nöthe was a proven goalscorer in the 2.Bundesliga with Fürth, but he has rarely featured for the club following their promotion.
Nöthe is well known by sporting director Rachid Azzouzi, who was previously employed at Fürth. Azzouzi said that Nöthe will fit well with the character of St. Pauli and will be keen to prove himself after a difficult season in the Bundesliga.
The club also today extended the contracts of Bene Pliquett and Robin Himmelmann. St. Pauli fan Pliquett is a cult hero amongst fans, and he will now spend his tenth year at the club. Himmelmann is yet to make an appearance for the first team, and has mainly featured for the U23 side.
